My website is http://www.familycoats.com, that points to http://www.cafepress.com/familycoats
The reason I got the domain is so that people could remember it easier because it is shorter.
I paid somebody for SEO advice, and they told me that this is a bad thing because search engines will consider it as multiple content.
Is this true? Is there anyway I can change this?
I want to keep the domain name, but I don’t want my rankings to suffer. As of now, my rankings are really bad.

as in, instead of domain abcdef.com where abc and def are keywords to help rankings in the search engines, i want to use abc-def as a domain name. is this just as acceptable and makes no difference for SEO purposes? i am not referring to content etc as that obviously has an effect. i just want to know if the keywords in a domain with a dash in between can still bring SEO benefits. thanks in advance!

Suppose I register a domain at namecheap or godaddy and forward it to my hosting account elsewhere, will I get rankings in Search Engines?

I currently have a sports related website. That being said, I’d like to change the domain name to present that of a baseball name. First off, how would I go about changing the current domain name to new name? Once done, how would I go about keeping current search engine rankings with OUT being banned or penalized for double content? Any thing else I’d need to do?

I run a website on a certain topic. I have the option of purchasing a different domain name which contains some important keywords for the site I own. Would it be beneficial to my current site’s search engine rankings for me to purchase this additional domain and set it up so it forwards automatically to my existing site?
Thanks in advance!

Not that I’ve heard of. I would doubt that Google/Yahoo/MSN crawl the databases of information and include that in their algorithms. If it did, it would be a good selling point for domain sellers and they would probably promote it a lot.
Hope that helps,http://www.how-to-sell-a-website.com

Maybe with some search engine(s) but even if it is part of some search engines algorithm it is a minor factor and only one of many that are taken into consideration.
Far more important are things like content, backlinks, age of site, page title, keyword frequency, keyword with H1 tag, etc.
But as already suggested you should probably take advantage of any option that might help. If you expect the site to still be active in 2 years register for more than a year. Can’t hurt
