Essentially, it comes down to a numbers game to be considered one of the top guys.  How much money did they make off of one product doing what their specialty of marketing is.  Pay per click advertising can certainly get you somewhere faster than organic traffic, but if you don't know what you are doing you can lose your shirt.  To my knowledge none of them extoll themselves as being guru's but I know they have been at the top of the affiliate marketing and internet marketing boards.
