I have a couple of small business sites and I’ve read tonight on a Forum that if you put a watermark over all your photo’s on your site with your web address then the Search Engines will pick this up and boost your rankings. Early tests with a friends web site who has done this gives her 650 links with me about 100 however I have over 100 reciprical links and she has only a handfull. Does any one know if this is true ?
Thanks

I just wanted to point out that the watermark in the picture doesn’t help, but using title or alt tags in the HTML can help your SEO.

No, it’s not true.
EDIT: for a start, search engines work out priorities in different ways. But more to the point, none of them emply advanced optical character recognition techniques to scan the pictures for possible text. Partly because the processing power involved in scanning every web graphic for the presence of text would be utterly obscene, and partly because it would be utterly irrelevent compared to the actual text of the site.

alt tags help

There’s a good guide to increase your traffic here: http://traffic-tips-and-tricks.blogspot.… The tips described there are quite simple but very effective.Check out tip number 5, it will help you rank high on search engines in a relatively small amount of time.
And if you’re willing to invest some time into it you should also consider reading the book “Guerrilla Marketing” by Jay Conrad Levinson, it tells you a lot of practical and effective ways to market your business for very little or no money at all.
I hope this info is useful to you.
