I have seen many ways to get high search rankings on the regular search engines such as Google and Yahoo but have not seen anything to say how search results are generated when you do a search on Amazon.com. I want my product, the RoomBud costume cover for the iRobot Roomba to be returned high on the search list when someone searches for “Roomba” but do not know how Amazon determines what is listed and in what order

im sry, I don’t know.but if you look closely , you’ll find it
They use the similar algorithm as all the other search engines. What you need to remember are these three things: content, content, and content.
Your site needs to be user friendly first and search engine friendly second.
You can achieve this buy doing the following things:
1. create web pages for users and not search engines
2. do all the necessary work when it comes to meta tags
3. join link exchange program
4. submit your site to major directories that are SE friendly
5. get a unique ip for your website
6. check if your site has broken links
You need to do research on yahoo. If you list your item, the more times you say something, describing what it is, the higher the ranking. Don’t just use your products name once, you need to use it a minimal of 3-5 times. Hope this helps..it’s true. And make sure your cross reference is used just as many.
My experience is with selling books on Amazon.com, but may be able to help.
Add more decription to your product pages, and make sure that you use all of the words your customers might use in a search.
This is an SEO strategy, but it might also work within Amazon: Put the keyword you want to rank higher for at the beginning of the product name. Try it with one of your products and see if that one comes up higher than the others.
Remember, though, that Amazon (like the search engines) wants the things customers are most likely to be searching for to come up first. Chances are, people searching for Roomba are looking for the Roomba itself, not a novelty accessory. As a result, it might not be possible to get your products to show up higher in search.
Use Amazon’s other resources to help customers find your products. Make a Listmania of Roomba products and accessories. Write reviews of related products. Use tags to tie your products to related products.
Good luck!
