I have an affiliate script which is telling me to redirect the affiliate URL using a 301 redirect to my home page. is this safe for my search engines rankings? and is it only a 302 redirect which is risky? thanks in advance!

It’s great for your search engines rankings because the search engines will count all the affiliate links as backlinks to your homepage.
Example:
if http://www.yoursite.com/php?r=1111 redirects to http://www.yoursite.com, the search engines will count all the links to the affiliate page as links to the homepage.
